Our family enjoys the occasional camping trip or cook-out but we are not too keen on fishing or hunting. In fact Braeton is the only one in our family that has ever caught a fish... that was until this past Monday.
There is a pond in our neighborhood where we can go fishing. It is "catch and release" which suits us because we don't want to gut and clean them. In fact Gina doesn't even want to touch the fish. We bought each of the kids a fishing pole for Christmas. The girls got a Disney Princess pole that doesn't even reel in anything larger than a quarter. We started by putting on some of the lures that Braeton received with his pole. We saw 5 or 6 fish looking at the bait but none of them would take it. Gina then pulled out the marshmallows and pretzels. The marshmallows didn't work too well but the pretzels proved to be the trick that did the job. With the Disney Princess pole Gina was able to catch her first fish! From the video below... you can be the judge of whether she was excited about catching the fish.
